Hi, I’m Malika

I’m a multimedia artist, teacher & yogi who is passionate about helping you feel at ease as you explore your creativity.

I had an alternative upbringing in the rolling hills of Sonoma County, California. My early life included singing circles, organic gardens, camping, long hikes, Waldorf schools and limited supervision. This all fed my creative talents and adventurous spirit from a young age.

I received a BA in Visual Art from Brown University in 2008. Then, I deepened my connection with the natural world through assisting at a small local farm and studying and teaching ancestral skills in California. During this period, I briefly studied Yantra Painting.

I made my way to the Oakland public schools and worked as a public educator for seven years. I left the classroom in 2021 to focus on my art. Since, I’ve been modeling, painting in my home studio, teaching watercolor and knitting classes while exploring ways to deepen my artistic practice and share it with the world.
